Fellowships Mechanical engineering graduate students Jenna Toennies and Marc Ramsey have won prestegious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowhips. According to the NSF this award means that Jenna and Marc "are expected to become knowledge experts who can contribute significantly to research, teaching, and innovations in science and engineering. These individuals will be crucial to maintaining and advancing the nation's technological infrastructure and national security as well as contributing to the economic well-being of society at large." Rucker's advisor, Assistant Professor Robert Webster elaborates, "Jenna and Marc earned this award by writing compelling essays about their future research plans. These essays were judged by experts in the field of engineering to demonstrate outstanding intellectual merit, together with broader impacts that benefit society and also merge education of younger students with research. The department is very proud of Jenna and Marc, and we look forward to supporting them as they work toward accomplishing their ambitious plans." |
