Chair opening for Department of Chemical Engineering

Vanderbilt University invites applications and nominations for Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering. The Department currently has approximately 120 undergraduates and 35 doctoral students. It features instruction and research in the areas of biological engineering, nanotechnology, materials synthesis and characterization, molecular modeling, and adsorption processes. The Department seeks a distinguished scholar committed to teaching and research. The candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty and the constituents of the Department to define long-term directions and the ability to enhance the graduate and research efforts while maintaining a strong undergraduate program. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline with professional achievements that would justify an appointment as full professor with tenure.

The Department of Chemical Engineering at Vanderbilt University

Chair, Department of Biomedical Engineering

Applications are invited for the Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University.  The department has 18 full time primary faculty, an enrollment of 400 undergraduate and 70 graduate students, and active research programs in many aspects of biomedical engineering including cellular and tissue engineering, imaging science, optics, biomaterials, nanotechnology, image guided therapies, and physiological modeling and measurements. Tenure Track Faculty Position, Civil Engineering – Structures, Mechanics and Materials

Vanderbilt University, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is seeking candidates to fill a tenure-track faculty position commencing Fall 2007.  Appointment at the assistant professor level is anticipated but higher ranks will be considered for truly outstanding candidates.  The successful candidate will have research and teaching expertise in structures with a research focus in one or more of the following areas:  structural health monitoring, systems-scale failure analysis, dynamic control, computational mechanics and micromechanics, advanced materials (e.g., nanocomposites, smart materials), nano-biosystems or failure analysis.  Synergy with the risk and reliability focus of the department is essential.
