The School of Engineering has established an international reputation for excellence in selected areas of engineering research.
Vanderbilt researchers are involved in projects ranging from "smart systems" computing to deep-brain stimulation devices; from
radiation-resistant electronics to laser stimulation of nerve cells; from cleaning power plant emissions to a complete molecular
model of water under extreme conditions.
Research funding topped $31 million last academic year. Faculty and graduate students continue to produce groundbreaking research
and to publish in the world's most prestigious reviewed journals.
