The School of Engineering has 92 full-time
faculty members, who are affiliated with one or
more of the School's five departments. Faculty
are selected and promoted on the basis of their
superior performance in:
- Teaching effectiveness
- Research
- Service to the profession.
Engineering professors conduct significant
research and publish their findings in
high-quality, peer-reviewed, archival journals.
They also generate externally funded research to
support scholarly investigations.
Engineering professors receive high ratings
from students, who anonymously assess their
professors for teaching effectiveness. The
faculty also is prolific in authoring teaching
materials, textbooks, courses and curricula.
The School's faculty are also involved in
leadership activities within their engineering
profession. They chair conference sessions,
serve on professional committees and review
journal papers and federal agency proposals.
They are also active within School, Department,
University and student organizations and
committees.
