This award is given periodically by the Engineering Alumni Association to an alumnus or alumna of the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering who has become so distinguished nationally or internationally that favorable attention has been directed to Vanderbilt and the School of Engineering. Recipients of the award must have graduated from or attended the School of Engineering. The honoree is chosen by an awards committee from nominations submitted by the Executive Council of the Engineering Alumni Association, the faculty of the School of Engineering, the Office of Alumni and Development, and by alumni and friends of the School. The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes distinguished achievement, significant service beyond his or her profession, excellent character, and a reputation resulting from a respected and ethical work record. The recipient must be truly distinguished, having received professional, civic, and/or volunteer recognition for accomplishments either in engineering or other areas.
