A Trip Down Memory
Lane
The Engineering Alumni Luncheon held May 28 during Reunion Weekend rated an "A" with the largest attendance ever (285) and more and better alumni stories shared during the open mike session. Reminiscences centered on good times at surveying camp, but anecdotes also included being jolted awake during class by professors throwing chalk and erasers, and finding love in the "garbage class." Storytellers were rewarded with a Vanderbilt hat sporting the words, "Been There, Done That."
Recognition was given to alumni who served in Reunion leadership positions, helping to make the weekend a success. William Featheringill, '64, served as general chair of Reunion 1999, and individual class chairs were Sandy Thomas, '64; Bob Clay, '54; and Clark Akers, '49. Alf Adams was fund-raising chair for the class of 1949, and John Anderson, '48, Quinq chair.
Later in the day, J.
L. Davidson, engineering professor, presented an informative session
titled "Diamonds are Forever," detailing his development of diamond
film technology for innovative electronic devices.
