One of the first female graduates of the School of Engineering, Maryly (BE'51) continued to be a woman of many “firsts” throughout her education and career, including being the first female to earn a MS and PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Florida and becoming the first female president of a public institution of higher learning in Florida.  She began her career at Rocketdyne where she developed solid fuel and engines which are still used in the space program today.
