Dawant offers Senior Day ‘Study Break’ session

A series of free educational seminars featuring Vanderbilt faculty will be available to parents and Commencement visitors from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Senior Day, Thursday, May 8. 

Study Break sessions prove to be popular with the parents and guests of graduates during three days of campus events surrounding Commencement. 

Benoit Dawant, EECS, will offer an hour-long session – “Computer-assisted Placement of Deep Brain Stimulators for the Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease” in Wilson Hall 126 at 2:45 p.m. 

Dawant’s main research interests include medical image processing and analysis. He directs a team of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are developing image-guided systems to assist in the placement of deep brain stimulators used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.  

Dawant has authored or co-authored more than 50 scientific papers in the area of medical image analysis, and he is the recipient of the “mostoften cited paper” award in the IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, one of the leading scientific journals in this area.
