Research
The School of Engineering has established an international reputation for excellence in selected areas of engineering research. Vanderbilt researchers are involved in projects ranging from "smart systems" computing to deep-brain stimulation devices; from radiation-resistant electronics to laser stimulation of nerve cells; from cleaning power plant emissions to a complete molecular model of water under extreme conditions. Research awards topped $41 million last fiscal year. Faculty and graduate students continue to produce groundbreaking research and to publish in the world's most prestigious reviewed journals.  |
